As a junior going into my senior year, I have been researching various majors that would best suit me. One of the majors I came across was psychology. I recently completed a general psychology course and loved every minute of it. It helped me realize what I want to do when I get older.
The main reason I love psychology so much is all of the various topics that come with it. There is a series of different things you can learn from this particular field. You can study mental disorders, personality disorders, and many other psychological aspects that are a major factor in who a person may be. My favorite study is psychotic disorders.
A brief explanation of the term is a group of serious illnesses that affect the mind. Many different factors can trigger someone into a psychotic state, but it all depends on what type of disorder they have. Schizophrenia is more of a genetic type disorder, but then you have more event related complications. For example, a death in someones family can trigger a sudden psychotic episode and that said person would most likely be hospitalized if the symptoms were too severe.
This particular field of study is quite interesting to me. I could talk about it for a long time, but I know it is not for everyone. I just hope somehow everyone finds something they enjoy in the end.
